About Green Gecko Farm
Green Gecko Farm is Situated on the “Pathway to Health” (Kealaola)
What makes Green Gecko Coffee so special? It could be the environment in which the coffee is grown, one not only of great natural beauty and abundance, but of conscientiousness on the part of its stewards. And located on a road with the Hawaiian namesake “Kealaola”, meaning “pathway to health”, you can be sure our coffee follows suit!
The farm is located in the very heart of the Kona Coffee region, on the western slope of Mauna Loa at 1,320 feet above sea level in the town of Kealakekua, above Pu’u Ohau and Keikiwaha Point, and just moments from Kealakekua Bay. View a photo gallery of the farm below, you'll also see photos interspersed throughout our web site. If you are coming from Kailua-Kona and plan to snorkel at “Two-Step” near the Place of Refuge (Pu'uhonua o Honaunau National Historic Park - this is one of our favorite snorkeling spots), or kayak at Kealakekua Bay, plan to stop at our farm along the way for a tour and tantalizing coffee!
Our farming methods incorporate the use of organic macadamia nut hulls and chicken guano to fertilize and nurture our coffee bushes, as well as use organic neem to control pests.
We grow our coffee, flowers, and fruits under the shade and protection of the bountiful tropical trees on the farm, the Kona clouds, and under the watchful care of our staff. All of our Kona Coffee is picked, processed and packed by hand. The coffee is sun dried prior to being roasted and packaged. Also, only coffee that is grown on our farm is labeled under our Estate label, as Green Gecko 100% Kona Coffee.
To ensure the premium quality of our coffee, we immediately start processing the coffee the same day that it is picked, and our processors only use filtered water during the processing and cleaning of the raw beans.
We believe that Green Gecko Farms is a “Must See” on the Big Island - so come over for a tour of a real Kona Coffee Estate Farm. You'll enjoy every minute of it.
